How to Connect a Printer to Wi-Fi (With or Without WPS)
Join your printer to your home Wi-Fi from its control panel, with the WPS button, or with the maker's app.
Steps
- Place the printer near your router and turn it on. Have your Wi-Fi name and password ready.
- Printers with a screen: open Settings or Network, choose Wireless Setup Wizard, pick your Wi-Fi name and enter the password.
- Printers without a screen: press the WPS button on your router, then within about 2 minutes hold the Wi-Fi or WPS button on the printer until its light blinks.
- Or install the printer maker's official app on your phone and follow its add-printer steps; it finds the printer and sends it your Wi-Fi details.
- When the Wi-Fi light stays on, print a network configuration page from the printer's menu to confirm it is connected.
- Connect your phone or computer to the same Wi-Fi network, then add the printer.
Tips
- Many printers only join 2.4 GHz networks. If yours doesn't see your Wi-Fi, check its manual for the supported bands.
- Button names and menu paths differ between models; your model's official manual shows the exact ones.
