Printer Error Codes: How to Find What Yours Means
Error codes differ by brand and model, so the exact meaning is in your printer's official manual.
Steps
- Write down the exact code and message shown on the screen, or note which lights blink and in what pattern.
- Open your printer's official manual from this app and look in the troubleshooting or error messages section.
- Follow the steps the manual gives for that code; many paper and ink errors clear after the cause is fixed.
- Turn the printer off, wait a minute and turn it back on to see if the error clears.
- If the same code returns, contact the manufacturer's support with the code and your model number.
Tips
- Don't open parts of the printer that the manual doesn't tell you to; it can be unsafe and may affect your warranty.
- The maker's official app often explains the current error on your phone screen.
