Printer Offline? How to Fix It Step by Step
Most “printer offline” messages come from a lost network connection and are fixed by reconnecting.
Steps
- Check the printer is on, awake and showing no error on its screen or lights.
- Make sure the printer and your device are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Restart the printer, the router and your phone or computer, in that order.
- Print a network configuration page to check the printer has a Wi-Fi connection and an IP address.
- On a computer, open the printer queue, cancel stuck jobs and turn off “Use printer offline” if it is ticked.
- If it is still offline, remove the printer from your device and add it again, or reconnect it with the maker's app.
Tips
- A changed router or Wi-Fi password disconnects the printer; repeat the Wi-Fi setup.
- Updating the printer's firmware through the maker's official app or website can fix connection bugs.
